Wide Awake

The pea packer didn't sleep much yesterday during the day. Cindy said that he took maybe an hour nap and was up and playful all day.

He was pretty much the same when we got him home. He was looking all around, smiling, making his "new noise". I'm not sure how to describe the "new noise". I will have to ask Sheri what she thinks. It's an easy sound to make, but a tough one to describe.

He's always been good with knowing his days and nights, it's just really neat to see the progression of him figuring them out more.

He had a full tablespoon of squash yesterday with Cindy. Sheri said that he is starting to like all the vegetabes that she doesn't like. HA HA! :-) I think we are going to call an audible on doing the spinach for next week. Sheri read that there is something in there that is not good for babies under six months. I read it too, it would be nice if I had the web page, but I don't. We will probably end up doing peas or something else green.

Weekend looks pretty mellow, some more bachelor time for me and Mr. D. Sheri's got some soccer stuff again. There's a gourmet market that Sheri saw down the road that we may go check out. We are going to head over to BK's for the Superbowl.

Work has been good. Ending my first full week as a "Clicker".

Vagueness

Without getting into any specifics, Destin's doctor's appointment went fine. Feel free to give me a holler if you want the details but I feel a little weird about posting them in cyberspace.

Let's just say that we are going to coordinate a couple surgeries with his cleft palate surgery. One being circumcision, the other being a very common one that is done down there for a lot of boys with a cleft.

Moving away from that, I was so hasty this morning that I forgot to mention that Destin is 5 months today.

I put some more pics up. I still have some more to put up from New Years, and Dr. Joe's visit. Maybe tomorrow night.

Destin and I need to get his last feeding in now. Good night, everyone!

GO IU!!!!

For those of you who don't know already, IU beat Purdue last night. WOO HOO!! I was pretty happy although I missed the game.

Destin has a pretty busy day today. Sheri is working from home, so he has to hold the fort down for us. He is also going to the urologist today. I'll leave it at that. :-)

On the lighter side, he's going to have squash for his solid food. This will be a change from the cereal and sweet potatoes. Up to three on his list now.

Gotta run, I'll hopefully get some time tonight to post the outcome of Destin's doctor appointment.

Snow Commutes

Weekend was good. The pea packer and I hung out a lot. Sheri was off doing her soccer thing this weekend.

He was a little fussy on Saturday afternoon, and he was drooly all weekend, so, again, signs of the teething process.

Yesterday, Kathy and Brett came over for a visit. Destin was great and even fell asleep on Kathy's lap. The rest of the day, he just chilled out. Sheri gave him a bath, and he splashed, on accident, once. It scared him a little bit.

We also got about 3-5 inches of snow last night and this morning. My new lovely commute took 45 minutes. Oh well...the drive to the tech center was running about 2.5 hours, so I was okay.

Sheri called a couple of hours ago and apparently the power is out at the house. She called Xcel and they said it should be up by now. I'm going to check on them here in a few.

Crazy stuff...

TGIF

Just a mellow day at the nanny's. Destin is crashed out right now. He'll eat one more time at 11:30 and he'll sleep the rest of the night.

Fussy At The Nanny's

Sheri got a call from Cindy today to say that Destin was pretty fuss and wasn't that interested in eating...

:: side note ::

I forgot to mention earlier that we did start a different solid food for Destin this week, sweet potatoes. Next week, I believe I'm going to attempt to make him some type of spinach concoction. We are planning on doing two vegetables and two fruits over the following few weeks.

...She called to tell Sheri that she was just going to stick to the formula, and wasn't going to attempt the sweet potatoes today. Which we thought was a good plan. We still believe that he is starting the teething process, so a minor loss in appetite is pretty normal. He's been taking a pretty huge feeding, 7 ounces, at the 11th hour for the past few days. With those, he makes up for a mediocre day of eating.

Got my new machine at work today. It's pretty sweet, IBM Thinkpad T40.

Spoons, Bottles, And New Gigs

Just checked on the little pea packer, and he's in "Touchdown Sleep". That's when he is totally out and sleeps with both arms stretched above his head.

Yesterday, while I was feeding Destin some rice cereal, he took the spoon out of my hand and held it to chew on it. He put it in and took it out of his mouth a couple times. My Dad will probably scream at me since we didn't get video, but we got a good picture of it.

Then, a couple hours later, he decided he wanted to do the same with the bottle. So, I let him have it. He did okay for a couple sips, but then it fell. We'll have to so some weight training for him to get used to the weight of the full bottle. :-)

I started at DoubleClick today. It was a good day. I pretty much just got familiar with my surrounds. It was a little funny starting at a new place, but I still think it's going to be a good change. And the commute at 18 minutes is a dream!

Week In A Nutshell

I've missed writing this past week, since the site was down. There have been some events that have been newsworthy.

My last day at First Data was the 15th. It was a nice last day, went to Sushi Den for lunch...MMMMMMMMMMM....

Destin has been doing great. He's been enjoying his new rice cereal. We will probably start a veggie next week, although we said that last week as well. We are thinking either spinach or sweet potatoes. What kid doesn't like sweet potatoes? He's definitely been more interested in food. We find him watching us use our hands to bring food to our mouths. I think he's saying, "Hey, let me try!"

We made a trip up to the mountains for "Auntie Jill's" surprise birthday party. It was a blast! She didn't have a clue that it was happening, so that made it even more special.

Dr. Joe, Destin's Godfather, met Destin last week. It was a good meeting. He laughed at Joe, go figure on that one. We had some good dinners together and some good hang out time. Joe and I even got to camp out one night.

Another thing we've noticed is that Destin is reaching for things more. He can pass objects from hand to hand. I think he may be juggling in the next couple of weeks.

I start with DoubleClick on Wednesday. It's been nice to have a few lazy days with Sheri and the pea packer. We have had a few responsibilities, but most of all we have been taking it easy. Which is nice...

Hope everyone's week started off good.

Back Up And Running

WOO HOO! The site is back up. I'll get on a little later and give a quick update from the past week.

Happy Birthday To The King..

So what do you think, any resemblance?

Destin, in his Elvis outfit...

Maybe a little. :-)

Destin is hanging out with Cindy today after a brief hiatus during the holidays. She got him a Cat In The Hat gym that she found at a second hand store for 10 bucks. Apparently, the shop owner bought it for her grandkids and they didn't like it, so she brought it in to the shop and Cindy got it.

Score for the pea packer.

May pop on tonight to give an update on how his day went with Cindy.

Cereal....mmmm....

Sheri IM'ed a few minutes ago and said that Destin had his first taste of rice cereal.

Then, Destin asked, through Sheri, when he could have pizza. I replied, "We may have to wait a little bit on that." Mean old dad...:-)

Shots, We Don't Need No Stinkin' Shots...

Well, sometimes we do. Destin was a champ again with his immunization shots. Dr. Dickerson said he looked great. He's growth is where it should be, and he is really strong.

We actually got some bad data from Children's Hospital. We weighed him on the scale without clothes at the doctor's office, and he is 11 pounds, 9.5 ounces. So I somewhat lied about his weight. But, no worries.

He did pretty good with the after effects of the shots. He did get a temp of 100.8. However, we think it was more so because of how we had him in his crib and we had turned the heat up because it was cold last night. Thick PJ's, thick blanket, and a little heat will do that.

So, we gave him about a half dose of Tylenol, and changed his clothes. He was at 98.6 at 5:30 this morning. All is well.

I've seen Sheri online quite a bit today, so it looks like the pea packer is letting her do a little work.

Speaking of work, it is now official that I will be moving to DoubleClick on January 21st. I've had to keep it in the dark for a little while, but now it's all over. I told First Data yesterday, and I faxed my offer letter to DoubleClick today.

It's going to be a good move for me and the fam. The offices are much much closer then the Denver Tech Center. So no more T-REX for me. WOO HOO! I will be working with some old friends from past employers. It should be a good time.

It's turning out to be other busy year!

Just Another Monday

Sheri said that Destin giggled today after his bath. Bath time for Destin is really like a baby spa for him. Sheri puts on music and has hot towels in the water, it's really a kick to watch because he loves it so much.

Destin liked his little bouncey chair for the first time today. He has hated it with a passion. But, Karter was over today, and he loves them, so maybe the pea packer just needed someone to show him it was alright.

Immunizations tomorrow. Shots are never fun, but they are necessary sometimes.

Snowy Weekend

As stated before, the weekend was pretty lazy for us. We watched a little football, and vegged out.

The most inspired we got was our trip to Costco to stock the freezer with some meat. Always a good time.

Destin is weighing in at 12 pounds or just above. So, we made the move to the number 2 size of big boy diaps.

The week looks fairly busy. Karter is coming over to play tomorrow from 11-2, and Destin is scheduled to go in for his second round of immunizations on Tuesday.

Mama starts back to work on Wednesday, although, she will be working from home, which will be the first time. Hopefully, Destin will be nice and let her get a few things done.

The Gift Of Gab

Same old, same old in the Hirsch household on the second day of 2004.

Destin had a big "conversation" with Sheri when I got home from work tonight. They went back and forth for a few minutes. It was neat to watch and listen to.

Looking forward to a lazy weekend...

Happy New Year

Wow, 2004. We had fun last night. A definite mellow New Years celebration on the scale of New Years celebrations, but good none the less.

Destin has been fine after the surgery. Sheri is letting him stay in pajamas these past couple days, so he can lounge.

I may have my first cigar of 2004 this afternoon. Didn't get to have one at the ball drop. Purios Indios, should be yummy.
