Increased Mobility

Destin has perfected the rollover. A tactic he is now using to get places. Sheri left him for 2 minutes while she got some stuff together for his ear appointment, and he had rolled behind the easy chair.

With his new found mobility, we know now that we are going to keep both eyes on him as much as we can.

His ear appointment went really well last Friday. The audiologist said that he is just about hearing a pin drop. She said that the machine is less forgiving then real life, and, with his tubes, it is pretty normal not to hear that particular test. Regardless, Destin doesn't have any significant hearing loss, and we are estatic about it.

It's been fun to watch Destin these past few days. He has been up all day, rolling around down the hall, and laughing a ton. We are definitely seeing a little personality coming out.

Tonight, we are going to let him sleep without his blanket, "woobs". He loves that thing, but with him being so rolly polly, he was starting to get tangled up in it. We still have the bumper on his crib, although he has found that and has started to grab and pull at it. Not sure if it will last through Destin's 9th month.

Big day for Destin tomorrow, can you figure out what it is? :-) If not, I will tell you with tomorrow's posting.

The Weekend

Not a whole lot to report. I hope that I didn't scare anybody away with that bedbug talk. :-)

Destin and I hung out all day on Saturday as Sheri had a soccer game down in the Springs. They tied 1-1.

Today was pretty mellow. We headed down to Cherry Creek Mall for a few things. Destin tried some more strawberry lemonade at California Pizza Kitchen. We aren't sure about that. He only had a couple spoonfuls at the most, but he was bouncing off the walls all day, so we may have to reconsider his intake of that stuff!

He's been sleeping since about 7:30, I'm trying to sneak this update in before he wakes up for his last feeding. There's a fairly busy week coming up for us. I'm going to DC on Tuesday night until Thursday, and Sheri and Destin have a bunch going on.

Hope all is well on your Sunday night. Time to feed "The Fritz"... :-)

Thanks for your patience...

Well, I know that a few of you that come to this blog haven't heard about what happened to Sheri and I the week before last. We had bedbugs.

No they are not a joke or some clever saying to pass along as someone turns in for the night. They are living and breathing parasites. And they pretty much give me the heebie jeebies. I feel my self starting to itch...

Thanks to the Orkin man, and an exodus of our mattress and box spring, we believe we have ridded ourselves of the little monsters. In the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that." If you are intrigued by the thought of bedbugs, check this out...And here's a site that Sheri and I used for some preventive measures before we had Orkin nuke them. There's some good advice on there. I hope and pray that you don't have to deal with the little devils ever, but if you do, act very fast. That's all I can say. It saved us...:-)

NOW FOR SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT....and much more pleasing to talk about...

Destin has had his share of "big boy" food in the past couple weeks including:

- One saltine
- One Ritz
- A tiny bite of lemon meringue pie
- Some fresh banana
- A couple of grains of risotto
- Red Robin Strawberry Lemonade

He's quite the gourmet :-) Speaking of gourmet, it runs in the family. Check out this article. It was written about my mom and her adventures in the kitchen. She gave me some nice props as well. Thanks, Mom!!

Destin saw Dr. Allen yesterday. We had an appointment to get his ears checked so we could schedule another hearing test. He was all clear. We set an appointment for next Friday the 23rd.

This week has been a lot better then the week before. Weather was beautiful, the coming weekend is going to be nice....No complaints...:)

Thanks for sticking around.

Good Doctor's Visit

Destin had a weight check today. He exceeded his goal by 2.5 ounces. He weighs 14 pounds, 10.5 ounces.

Dr. Dickerson was happy with his progress. Destin was all smiles as usual.

We had another bad experience with Children's Hospital. For some reason most of the doctor's and nurse are on the ball, but the administrative people don't have a clue.

Sheri waited for an hour today just to get Destin's ears checked for fluid, a five minute procedure. She ended up having to reschedule for Thursday, with a mini appointment before the doctor's first normal appointment. It was just a big mess, there is more to the story, but I'm a little sleepy, so I won't go into it right now...:-)

And I know that I still owe an explanation of what happened in our lives last week. I will get to that, too.

The other thing we did today was meet with Stan Humbargar to get our life insurance all set. We are really happy with our coverage.

Anyway, updates are coming. Thanks for your patience!! :-)

A Very Happy Easter To All..

Today was Destin's first Easter. We all had a great time. It started out with looking for Easter Eggs, and going through his basket that the Bunny left.

We opened his gifts from Gran and Pop Pop and Auntie Pat this morning as well. He made out with some dough, some really cool toys, books, stuffed animals, and clothes. It was like a mini Christmas; with more to come from Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole this evening!

They came up for dinner and brought a fun basket with a patty cake stuffed animal, some clothes, wind-up toys, and BUBBLES.

Needless to say, the child was pretty depraved for his first Easter. :-)

We went to an Easter Egg Hunt/Party at Mike and Delane's house between both showerings of gifts. It was fun! A bunch of families were there. Destin and I found three eggs.

We stopped by to see Uncle T and brought him some of the "traditional" chocolate cupcakes on our way back home. :-)

We read to him out of some of his new books and we read the Easter story to him out of his Children's Bible.

It was a great first Easter. We even got some video. It was a very welcome change from what has passed since last Sunday. I will dive into that later.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Visiting The Easter Bunny

Destin went with his friend Karter to see the Easter Bunny at the mall today. Sheri and Kristen had fun with them.

We got 2 5x7's and 4 wallets. Our collection has started. It turned out to be a great shot. Destin was looking up and smiling. Sheri was able to take a few pictures with our camera. I am hoping to get these up this weekend.

It's been a good week. Sheri and Destin took advantage of the weather and got out to a couple parks. They went shopping with Grandma. It's going to be a little colder tomorrow and Sunday.

Auntie Jill is coming down tomorrow so Destin has to share his room. Jill will get the "banana" sheets and he will crash with us.

She and Sheri are going to a party tomrrow night, so the pea packer and I have the run of the house again. Who knows what will happen. We might blow up marshmallow peeps in the microwave to celebrate the coming of Easter. Sheri (Mama) gave Destin the thumbs up as long as we clean up afterwards.

Hee hee hee...
