Lot's O' Stuff
Man, it's been a busy week. As you have probably noticed since I have neglected to post since last Thursday.
Last weekend went great. Destin was well-behaved on the plane as he has been the past couple times. He got to hang out with Gran and Pop Pop again. They watched him while Sheri and I went to the reunion.
The reunion was pretty cool. I enjoyed talking to a few people I hadn't talked to in awhile. A couple of the people in my high school class, I hadn't seen since we left Brentwood Academy.
We got back into the swing of things on Monday. Sheri went straight to soccer practice after we got off the plane, and the pea packer and I headed home for some food and a bath.
We had a scare on Tuesday night. Sheri met some friends out for a couple drinks and she lost her engagement ring. By the Grace of God, the good people and West End Tavern found it, and I was able to get it back.
Wednesday...yesterday...Sheri was sick. Mostly because we did not know the whereabouts of her ring, but also had some stomach issues. Nancy came up to help out with "The Fritz". We had a huge rain last night. Which was probably a good thing because my softball game was cancelled. So I was able to take care of things at home for the night.
We did get the day that Destin is going to have his cleft palate surgery. It is going to be on Friday, September 17th. We will not get the actual time of the operation until 48 hours before, but we do know it's definitely going to be on that day. Which is nice.
Today is turning out to be a fairly busy day as well. Sheri is watching Karter and Destin, and she had soccer practice tonight unless we get another summer shower. I will be taking the pea packer to swim lessons.
I promise I'm fitting work in there somewhere between all this...:) Which is calling me now, so I will part. I'm hoping to get on again tonight...

Grumpy Hirsch
Sheri wanted me to tell everyone that the little pea packer was a big grump today. We aren't really sure why. Maybe another tooth coming in, but Sheri said he couldn't get comfortable all day.
He had his fourth swim lesson today. He did okay; wasn't too excited about it.
Tomorrow we make the trek to Tennessee for Destin's second trip to NashVegas. We are heading home for my 10 year high school reunion. It's going to be a good weekend hanging out with the fam and some old friends.

Pool Sharks
Destin had his third swim lesson today. Sheri and I both went this time, and I went into the pool with him. It must have been the plan for most of the families because there was only one mom with her daughter.
He is really good floating on his tummy. There was a smile on his face for most of the time. He did get a little fuss at the end of the lesson. I think it was because he swallowed some water. That's not fun for anybody.
Sheri and the pea packer went on a bunch of errands and hung out at the park. Just enough stuff to give Destin a little variety, but a pretty mellow day.

Weekend In South Denver
Sheri, Destin, and I hit south Denver this weekend, and crashed at Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole's. Sheri and I went to Benzel's Summer Barbeque which was fun. Destin hung out with Grandma and Grandpa for the night.
Today, Sheri and I went to see Anchorman. It wasn't too bad, but we are usually suckers for those stupid funny movies. Then, it was back to the Stackpole house, grabbed the pea packer and headed back home.
We had originally planned to go to the Renaissance Festival, but after talking to a few people about the lines this weekend, we decided against it.
Chilpotle was our choice for dinner tonight. Nothing like a little mexican food to wrap up a great weekend.
We've got a busy week ahead. Destin has another two swim lessons, and we leave to go to my 10 year high school reunion on Friday. Destin is going to be on more planes before he is a year old then some people have been on their whole lives.

Too Much Water
Destin had his second swim lesson today. Sheri said he got a little fuss at it. The instructor had them do a psuedo "jump-in". Basically, Sheri was in the water, sat Destin on the side and then pulled him into the water. He wasn't a big fan. Then, they had makeshift sprinklers with milk jugs with holes and they went under them like a shower. He screamed at that one.
You win some you lose some I guess. He has been in the pool and the bath 3 times each this week. The pea packer is going to be a prune!
I'm glad that it's Friday tomorrow. Hasn't been a rough week by any means, just ready for the weekend.

Checking Things Out
Today was the first full day with less obturator time. It's funny to watch Destin look for his mouthpiece with his tongue when it's not there.
He was pretty drool face today, it looks like he getting another tooth.
Tomorrow, he has another swim lesson. He actually went to the pool today as well, so he's becoming quite the water rat.

Splishin' And A-Splashin'
Pretty big day for the D-man today.
He had his first swim lesson. Sheri said that he really liked kicking in the water while on his stomach. MK and Karter are in the same class. It's always good to have a buddy.
We are going to try to break away from his obturator. From tonight on, we are going to leave it out except for feeding times. We'll experiment with taking it out for feedings as well, but we don't want to overwhelm him too much. This will prepare him for his surgery which is still to be determined, but we've narrowed it down to September.

And We Are Back...
The Hirsch fam is back in the Mile High City. We had a great time down in Florida, but I guess it is good to get back home. It was good to hang out with Gran, Pop Pop, Ty, and Cooper at Cloud Nine.
We went through the land of the Delta Blues (Memphis) both ways. Destin was a champ on the plane. His routine was to chew on his bink, and fall asleep for an hour. On the flight from Memphis to Denver, he had a bottle and some applesauce.
Destin was okay on the beach. The first time he went we were a little far from the water so there wasn't a cool breeze and the sand was pretty hot. Once we got spots closer to the water, he was great for about an hour, then he was done.
The pea packer adjusted well. He had only one real episode at the Bonefish Grill. We think he got a little scared because he had gone to sleep before we went into the restaurant. He woke up and just couldn't get comfortable. It was a crowded place that was pretty dark and the ceiling was black, so he may not have felt he had enough room. So, we each took turns taking him outside to watch the cars. He enjoyed that. Nothing against the restaurant, it is actually really good.
It was a nice little vacation. Here are some photos. Sheri and I got a little time together while Gran and Pop Pop watched their grandson. We had a picnic lunch and a key lime tart on the beach, and we went out to a nice dinner. The weather was great, and we had some great times with the fam. Destin's first trip to Destin was a success.
But it's back to reality tomorrow...ho-hum...
I did get some more pictures up on the site. Destin's 9th month photos and the Ireland Trip photos, I've been meaning to get both up for awhile.

We are here...
We head out tomorrow morning to Florida for Destin's first trip to Destin. I may or may not pop on for a few entries next week. I hope that everyone has a fun and safe Fourth Of July!

That was from Destin. He was a little fuss tonight, so I thought I'd let him bang on the keyboard for awhile.
He really doesn't have a good reason to fuss, he did have a great day today. Sheri, he, and I had lunch with Jill, Heath, Aunt Kay, Dione, Gary, and Jann at C.B. Potts. Dione gave Destin a few massages which he liked it.
Then, it was off shopping with Jill and Sheri at Flatirons. Wait a minute. Maybe he does have a good reason to fuss. He and I are currently baching it while the two hens are out playing. He just needed to vent to his dad about some things, have some food and cash in for the night.
Poor Destin. Sleep tight, my son! :-)
