Mellow Monday

Not too much to report. Sheri and I talked about what we wanted to ask the doctor tomorrow. Destin was pretty hungry today. He's eaten like a champ.

I'll be back on tomorrow night (hopefully) with a full report from the doc.

At The Zoo

It was another beautiful day today in Denver. Something the three of us were hoping for. Sheri, Destin, and I went to the Denver Zoo today. We saw the giraffes, sea lions, monkeys, a rhino, zebras, hippos, elepants, polar bears and on and on.

Destin's favorite seemed to be the zebras. We were thinking he could be a giraffe for Halloween, but maybe we will have to find a zebra costume now.

The pea packer has his 1 year check up on Tuesday. I'm kind of excited to see what we can add to the D-man's diet. Whole milk, spaghetti, sausages maybe. I guess he'll need a few more teeth for those. :-)

I was able to FINALLY put up Destin's 10 and 11 month pictures. I thought I was going to be able to put up our Philly trip and his first haircut, but I did not get to it tonight. Hopefully, this week.

One Year Ago Today...Happy 1st Birthday, Destin!

Little did we know how much our lives would change when the pea packer came into our world. Now, it's hard to remember the world without him.

It was just about 40 minutes ago last year when we saw him for the first time. Sheri was exhausted and under the influence of some heavy-duty medicine. I was running around in scrubs.

Tonight, Destin tore up a cupcake with a "1" candle in his big boy PJ's. We did presents this morning. Then, he and I had some hang out time when Mama went to her soccer game. It was a beautiful day so we took a walk down to the park. They were having an art festival.

We had plans to head to the zoo, but decided to go tomorrow. Hopefully it will be as nice as it was today.

I know I would have loved to have a 1st Birthday like this. I think the D-man had fun, and so did we....:)

That Night...

If this were last year, Sheri would be doubled over on the couch as she was going into labor. In about an hour I would be picking up the phone and calling the child birth floor at Boulder Medical to ask if my wife was going into labor....twice.

Tonight was a little more mellow. We had Spaghetti Putanesca and watched some of the Olympics. Sheri is going to make cupcakes for the big day tomorrow.

My mind has been wondering back to a year ago this week. Just what we were thinking, and feeling. I'm hoping to get some more photos up tomorrow. I've been slacking and have a fairly large back log to work through.

Quick Update

I know that I said I would have some big entries this week, but I can only manage a quick one tonight. I know the week isn't over, I still have time to keep my promise.

Philly was great. We had an absolute blast with the fam. Mom Mom (Bubba) was very excited to see Destin, and vice versa. We ate the best snow cones, and cheese steaks the world has to offer. It was tough to pull Sheri away from the penny candy case in the store.

I, unfortunately, caught a little cold on the way back. The pressure on the plane was really whacked and it messed up my sinuses. Sheri has taken good care of me the past couple days, and I'm trying my best to keep my germs off of things around the house.

Destin was a champ on all three planes last weekend. What a traveller! He has his first hair cut tomorrow. I believe that Grandma Stackpole, Mama, and I are all going to be in attendance. I think I might even break out the video camera.

But that might be too crazy....:-)

City Of Brotherly Love

We are off to Philadelphia tomorrow to visit Mom Mom. We are very excited. This will be Destin's longest plane trip yet. Hopefully he will be a champ like he always is.

I'm going to try to log on and do an entry this weekend while we are there.

I apologize that my postings have been light as of late. It's been a busy two weeks. Next week I'm hoping to do a bunch.

Thanks for continuing to stop by!

Scatterbrained

The weekend was pretty packed. Tiffany was visiting from DC. I met her, Amity, Gary, and Amanda at the Uptown Tavern on Saturday night. Sheri had soccer most of the day. We were all scattered around.

Sunday, we couldn't keep still either. The three of us went to brunch with everyone mentioned above. Then, Mike and Delane from our lamaze class had a pool party/1st Birthday for their daughter, Briana. Next, we drove home to get some clothes for dinner that night, and took "The Fritz" down to Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole's. Sheri and I went out to Buca di Beppo with the whole gang.

Destin didn't know which way was up. Neither did we for that matter...:)

Today was a little more mellow. Sheri and Destin did stay down at Russ and Nancy's however. We got a call from Dad (Pop Pop) to say that he was going to be in town for 7 hours. So Russ, Sheri, and Destin went to the Inverness Hotel to have lunch with him.

We are heading to Philly this weekend to see Mom Mom. My grandmother, Destin's great grandmother. It's going to be a blast. We are doing a mini-family reunion as well.

I think I'm going to go sit still for awhile...

The Next Mark Spitz

Destin had his final swim lesson today. He and I went to the rec center ready to tear up the pool. We hit the kiddie area, the lazy river, and then class.

The pea packer did awesome. He floated and kicked well. His favorite was the "Motorboat, Motorboat" game. He laughed through the whole thing.

We got a report card for him, and the comments were, "Great Job!" There are still a few things that Destin can't do like swimming under water or on his own, but he's getting real comfortable in the water. That's what we were aiming for.

Anyway, we got back to the house and it was time to eat. After his bottle, Destin felt like hitting himself in the head. He was doing his best Jeff Spicoli imitation, "You hear that? It's my skull, Dude!"

Then again, maybe he was hitting me in the head...

Slides, Slides, Everywhere There's Slides

Sheri and Destin had a full day today. They went to the park to check out the pavilion for Destin's party again. We took a walk over there last night. The spot looks great. Destin swung on the swings, and slid down the slide with his Mama, both last night and this afternoon.

At swim lessons, the two of them went down the mini water slide together. Destin had a good lesson, he even tried to jump in on his own. Sheri and he floated in the lazy river for awhile, and played with the sprinklers in the kiddie section.

Tomorrow, Sheri is going to go to the fire station to have the bigger car seat checked out. Destin is pretty much out of his smaller one. If this bigger one fits, we are going to swap it out.

New Jeep For Destin

Back from Allentown. Actually, I was back on Friday evening, but I haven't made time to get on here until now.

We had a soccer weekend this weekend. Sheri had a game on Saturday and today. Destin and I bached it.

Today being a bigger bach day as we took his new "Jeep Wrangler Sport" stroller out for it's first spin. He really liked it. He feel asleep on our walk through the park.

The three of us went to Nicky and Devin's baby shower for Baby Linden on Saturday evening. Destin was surprisingly fuss for most of the night, but nothing we couldn't handle. We got to hang out with a lot of ex-MatchLogic people. Destin calmed down eventually, and we headed home around 9 PM.

Another busy week with swimming, soccer practice and softball coming up. Woo hoo...

El Tres De August

Destin had a good swim lesson with his Mama today. They ran a few errands around town getting ready for his first birthday. It's going to sneak up on us here.

I'm heading to Allentown, PA tomorrow for work. Sheri starts a soccer tournament on Thursday, so the pea packer and her are going to head down to Grandma and Grandpa's. Destin is going to hang out with his Grandpa for the day.

The busy week continues...

0 for August

Sheri, Destin, Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole came to two of my softball games today. We lost both. I went 0 for 5 at the plate, thus, putting me at 0 for August. Oh well, you win some you lose some. Such is life.

We hit lunch at Rock Bottom after the games, and then headed to the farmers market. Sheri and I had a scrum-dilly-umptuos dinner with tomatoes, corn, cantalope, greens beans, and some italian sausage.

The pea packer has had a pretty fussy night. He's just getting down to sleep now. Not that 9:00 PM is an ungodly hour for him to go to bed, he's just had a fairly unhappy afternoon. It is Sunday afterall, his traditional fuss day.

It's Gran's birthday. She is "double nickels" today. We talked to her this afternoon, and she is having a pretty mellow birthday. She drove back to Brentwood from Ashville, NC. Pretty exciting...:)

The coming week is going to be the usual busy for us. Sheri has soccer practice and I'm traveling to Allentown, PA for work starting Wednesday. Nothing we can't handle though.
