Visit To The Doc
Destin went to visit Dr. Dickerson today. He is 2'5", weighing in at just over 18 pounds. Head circumference is 17 3/4".
He received the chicken pox vaccine and a flu shot. Sheri said that the nurse gave Destin a toy before the sharps. He must have known what was coming because he threw the toy and hit the nurse in the head. Stupid needles...:)
Dr. Dickerson was pleased with how he was doing. We were thinking that we might switch to whole milk after this visit, but we are going to stick to the formula for another month. We currently mix the formula at 24 calories. We'll mix it at 22 for December, and then go in for a weight check in January. Depending on how he does, we will make the call from there, to get him on proper moo.
His mama had him all over creation today. Costco. Target. Dry Cleaners. Big errand day. It wore him out. He's been snoozing for a few hours. He's up now, and we'll do one more bottle and call it a night.

An Early Christmas Card
Decorations are going up. Watching the snow through the window. What a great start to the Christmas season.
Destin is crawling around looking at the new stuff. Sheri is dancing and wearing a Santa Claus hat. I hope that there isn't anyone looking through the window! We are having fun, though, and that's what it's all about.
The pea packer is 15 months today. Time keeps trucking along!

Stuffed Tummy, Stuffed Weekend
I'm sure most of you are as full from Thanksgiving as I am. We had a great meal with Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole (Russ and Nancy) on Thursday. It was a wonderful spread that yielded the usual leftovers. So we have some food for the weekend, I suppose.
Aside from eating too much, we all were pretty busy. The three of us helped Russ and Nancy put up their Christmas lights and decorations. Sheri and Nancy hit the "Door Buster" sales at Walgreen's, Walmart, and Kohls. They had completed two stores by 9:00 AM. Insane.
Destin had a blast at Grandma and Grandpa's. He did laps around the Stackpole house. Some with a ball, some without. He discovered "Aunt Lucy's" food and water bowls. Lucky for him he doesn't put everything in his mouth.
We came back home today. The car was packed down like we were leaving for weeks. It was mostly gifts. We are sponsoring a family for Christmas this year, and collected from Russ and Nancy, and the Dodge family. Everything is up and organized.
Tomorrow we are planning on putting up our Christmas decorations. Since we will be traveling for most of the month of December, we decided we are going to just put out a few things. Just enough to not get a "Bah, Humbug" from anyone. I'm sure our place will look very festive.
That's all I have tonight...good night!

Destin The Knock Down Champion
Becky from Early Childhood Connections (ECC) came by today. She brought her son, Jacob. She's really pleased with Destin's progress. He is pushing himself up more and more working his trunk muscles.
He closed himself in the bathroom again today. It breaks my heart to hear him cry like that, but it also makes me laugh so hard. He's being a little stinker about going back to bed tonight, so he's in our bed with Sheri playing Knock Down.
Knock Down is the game where he grunts and knocks everything off Sheri's nightstand. I am tasked with setting the objects back on the table. I sometimes feel as if I'm working at a bowling alley, but it is fun to watch. So it's worth it...:)
We are pretty much just getting ready for the gobble fest on Thursday. We are going to head down to Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole's tomorrow night.
I'm really looking forward to the few days with the fam.

Cozy Weekend
Snow in Denver this weekend. Sheri, Destin and I stayed in with a little bit of errand running.
So in my busyness I've failed to mention some of the things Destin has been doing that have cracked us up.
Computer Wires:
He really likes to get into our bedroom and play with the computer wires. We used to just close the door, but since it doesn't latch very tight, he was able to figure out that giving it a good whack would open it.
We started to put the laundry basket in front of the shut door. This is when he used his walker toy as a battling ram to hit the basket into the door, forcing it open. He would then maneuver around the carnage and get into the room.
He knows his own strength now and just shoves the laundry basket out of the way and pushes the door open. We've weighted down the basket with some clothes which has seem to slow him down a little bit. We may be investing in some baby gates soon.
It's not a huge deal, it's pretty much the only area of our place that isn't baby friendly.
Fumble-ruskie:
Destin's new favorite game is fumble-ruskie. He'll hit one of his footballs and then chase it down and hit it again. No part of the apartment is safe!
His knowledge is still just enough to get him into trouble. Today, he shut himself in the bathroom. We heard his scared cry from the other room and went to check it out. Our son, in the pitch dark bathroom...poor little bugger. We did get quite a chuckle from it though, is that bad?
Sheri is wrapping Christmas presents this evening. A little insane if you ask me, but just one of the many things she does to keep us in line.
We are just planning a mellow night as all Sunday nights should be. Looking forward to the short work week!

Quarantine Hirsch Part Deux
Just about a year ago, Destin had the rotavirus, and then Sheri got it. They are both sick again today, with this wicked head/stomach flu that is going around.
The D-man threw up 4 times at Uncle Gorske's place. When we got home, Sheri starting throwing up as well. It wasn't a pretty sight, so I'll stop here with the details.
Today, I stayed home from work to take care of the fam. Both patients were able to get some good sleep. Destin threw up once, but was able to keep most of his food down.
I'm off to Tampa tomorrow for work. I'm hoping the rest will continue through the evening and Sheri will be recovered by morning. I'll feel really bad being 1600 miles away and not being able to help out.
On the brighter side, I'm going to run into cousin Dorothy while in Florida. It should be a good time.
Pump the Vitamin C and keep washing those hands, that's the secret!

Pea Packer Smarts
Destin is continuing to explore and pick up some new things. Mostly, good...There is one in particular that I don't care for. He's learned how to grind his top and bottom teeth together. The sound of his two chompers rubbing together give me the chills and the heebie jeebies all at once. That's all I have to say about that...:)
He's figured out how to push doors open. There are a couple in our place that do not shut securely. He crawls right up to one, pushes it open, and crawls in the room.
It's been neat to watch as always.
Sheri went through Destin's clothes this week to clean out the things that don't fit. For as much that we are putting away, it's hard to believe he still has something to wear. But he does; quite a bit left, too. What a shame...:)

Whirlwind
We've been a little busy in the Hirsch household for the past few days. I was in New York City on business Monday and Tuesday. I brought back an "I love NY" Shirt and a snow globe with the Empire State Building and King Kong for the pea packer.
Sheri and he have been all over the place. Including his check up today for the "other" procedure he had done with his cleft palate surgery. Everything has healed fine, and the doctor didn't see any issues.
That was the main news of the day. More tomorrow...hopefully...:)

New Tooth
So I was going for a run this morning before work in Destin's park. For those of you who were at his 1st Birthday party, you know that their are a lot of squirrels running around. The are pretty tame because people feed them nuts and things.
I was running on the path, and this squirrel ran to the middle of the path and stood up straight. He looked at me like he was going to say,"YOU WANNA PIECE OF ME?" As I got closer, he scurried off to the side. Which was probably a good thing, because I don't know if I could have taken him...:)
Anyway, Destin has a new tooth poking through on the top. It's been hurting him for the past couple days. I swear I'm going to have 3 cavities my next dentist visit with all of my family's dental problems.
Karter was supposed to come over and play today, but he is a sick little boy. Destin was bummed, because his friend hasn't seen him crawl yet.
It's been a pretty hectic week again. I don't know why, but I still end up surprised at how busy we are from week to week.
I guess a family of three has a lot of things to do.
