Lots To Say, But Vacation Coming

The rest of the week was busy, but went well. Lots of stuff to talk about. The Kay Toomey Clinic, blood work, doctor visit, play group, and vistors for out of town.

I will try to get to some of these while on vacation, but can't promise anything. Yes, I'm that much of a geek. I will be updating the weblog on vacation...:)

We are taking the annual trip to Destin, FL. I've made a playlist on my iPod for the trip, and one song in particular reminds me of the person Destin in the place Destin. It is Biloxi by Jimmy Buffett. Although, Buffett only mentions the "Boy" a couple times, I see Destin with his pail and a small pool dug in the sand...

Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are dancin' in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
Boy will fill his pail with salted water
And the storms will blow from off towards New Orleans

The sun shines on Biloxi
The air is filled with vapors from the sea
Boy will dig a pool beside the ocean
He sees creatures from his dreams underwater
And the sun will set from off towards New Orleans

Stars can see Biloxi
Stars can find their faces in the sea
We are walking down beside the ocean
We are splashing naked in the water
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans

Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are swimmin' in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
Boy will fill his pail with salted water
And the storms blow from off towards New Orleans

We'll be here until July 8th...

Starting The Busy Week

Sheri and Destin went to the Amaryllis Clinic today. Destin had two people work on him; His pal, Cindy, and another lady, Jennifer. Cindy and Jennifer are teaming up to hold a 2-day craniosacral therapy today and tomorrow. Destin was lucky to be a part of it. Sheri said he enjoyed it.

The three of us are off to the Kay Toomey clinic tomorrow. Nancy is going to meet us there. We are excited to see what the experts have to say about Destin's feeding issues. It can only get better from here!

I'll try to get the results up tomorrow, but it will probably be Wednesday.

Happy Father's Day

I had a good Father's Day today. Sheri and Destin gave me gifts this morning along with a gift from my folks. The three of us took a walk before it got too hot. Russ, Nancy, and Lucy came up around 3:00 PM. We headed to the pool for about an hour.

Destin was okay in the water, it was a little cold for his liking. He got used to it and was able to relax after awhile. Grandma and Grandpa took turns playing with him around the pool.

All of us came back for dinner at our place. We had grilled pork tenderloin with Mango-Kiwi salsa, and caprese salad. Nancy made deviled eggs, too. Another Father's Day gift! Key Lime Pie was our dessert.

It's been great being a Dad. It's also great to have Destin as a son. He cracks me up. A few days ago, I was watching him while Sheri was out shopping. I was sitting on the floor in our family room, and Destin was playing in the kitchen. He sat up on his knees and was looking out the window. He sat there for a moment like he was taking in a few things. Then, he bounced around and started playing with another toy. It wasn't a total connection moment, but it's one of my favorite memories to date. Just hanging out with my son.

Being able to be a spectator as he discovers our world is amazing. I'm looking forward to other cool moments like that...

New Pictures Posted

I have posted the pictures from our March trip to Tennessee (About time, right?). All photos were taken by Dr. Joe and Pop Pop.

Sheri's doing a little summer cleaning; Destin's napping; and I'm posting pictures. It's currently 93 degrees outside. Looks like Denver is getting the heat this weekend.

Grandma and Grandpa are coming up tomorrow to hang out. We are going to hit the pool and have some dinner. Should be a good time.

Pop Pop In Town

Destin's Pop Pop was in town last night. He was in on a business/"Destin" trip; or, at least that is how I classify it.

He was at the house before I got home from work, hanging out with Sheri and his grandson. We had a great dinner at Village Tavern. Dad and I had a Jack Daniel's and a cigar on the porch when we got back. Destin shared his bathroom with Pop Pop this morning. The D-man is pretty good at sharing. Pop Pop said, "He was so cool".

Becky came yesterday before Dad was around. She had a good visit with Destin. He will be heading to play group tomorrow, and won't go back to Cindy at Amaryllis until next Monday.

Next week is filling up with Cindy on Monday and the Kay Toomey feeding clinic on Tuesday. He's a busy kid!

The Climber

I'm trucking along at one post per week. A pace that I've heard is a little too slow for some people's liking; including mine :). I will be trying to pick up the pace in the coming weeks.

So, the week in review...

We had the normal routine. Becky came over Tuesday afternoon to work with the pea packer. Destin had a checkup on Wednesday with the urologist. Everything was fine. Playgroup was pretty crowded on Thursday. Destin had a lot of new playmates. They had the usual fun and did some crafts. Friday, I took him to the Amaryllis clinic to visit his friend Cindy. She gave him a treatment and we were able to play in the gym for awhile.

Friday night we headed down to Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole's place. Destin stayed with them on Saturday night. Sheri and I headed up to Breckenridge for the Kozub/Panfil wedding. It was a beautiful wedding for a great couple. We had a blast. They even got a little dusting of snow after the ceremony had finished. Sheri and I felt right at home.

We got back down to Denver today and had a steak dinner with Russ and Nancy. Not a bad weekend.

Destin was great all weekend. His new favorite thing to do at Grandma and Grandpa's house is to go up the stairs. I think this even trumps the race car. He still loves his race car though. He would knock if over and then lean down on both sides of the car and try to look under it. It was pretty amusing.

Again, I will try to be better with the documentation this week. Until next time...

A Wonderful Weekend

Actually, the weather on Saturday left a little to be desired, but Sunday made up for it.

The three of us went down to Littleton to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa. Destin was ready to play when we got down there. He and Nancy went straight to the toy chest. We had a great stuffed pork tenderloin for dinner. Sheri and I went to the Big Head Todd & The Monsters concert at Red Rocks that night. Destin, Grandma, and Grandpa chilled at home.

On Sunday, Russ and I went to Stars Wars, Episode III. Don't tell anyone I've seen it twice. Wait a minute...I just did...CRAP! :) Sheri and Nancy when shopping with Destin. He had had enough when they got home.

Destin logged some good time in the tree swing down there. Sheri does this little "peek-a-boo" game with him where she runs behind the swing where he can't see her. Then, she'll run to the front and he'll giggle. It's pretty entertaining for all parties...:) He also has the short track down with the walker. He did "his loop" at the Stackpole house. Through the kitchen, living rooming, and dining room.

Sunday night we had burgers on the grill with beans, cantalope, strawberries, and, my personal favorite, deviled eggs. That was the best part of the weekend!

Busy Bees

So there have been a lot of things going on the past 10 days. I'm just going to jump right into it.

Destin had his visit with a pediatric GI specialist. Everything went fine. Dr. Barrios was very helpful. He didn't think Destin had a major problem besides his eating. Which, of course, we already knew. He wants to get some blood work and a stool sample (lovely) to make sure everything is alright.

As far as feeding, Dr. Barrios got in touch with Kay Toomey. Kay has been working with kids with eating issues for over 15 years. Her clinic is the best feeding clinic in Denver, from what we've been told. There is a fairly large waiting list, but we were lucky enough to get an evaluation on June 21st.

Destin is still visiting his friend Cindy. The lovely people at Early Childhood Connections are going to help us pick up the check for her work. Destin will probably be hanging out with her twice a month. She has been really great, and Sheri and I feel that it's really helping Destin. At his last visit, Cindy brought him into her play room. In this play room, she has a ball pit. Sheri and Cindy wanted to try him in it. Sheri was a little worried he wouldn't like it, but once in was in the pit, he was in heaven. Laughing; covering himself with balls; Sheri said he was hilarious.

The next thing we are looking into is speech therapy. We only have one person on our insurance so we've contacted her to see if she has time to work with Destin. The speech therapists at Early Childhood Connections have been helping us out. Hopefully, hese sessions will start rolling this month or next.

It amazing what Sheri and Destin will be doing in the upcoming months. They are both going to have full calendars. I'm hoping I can be penciled in somewhere. We are so thankful for the help we are getting. All of it has been very beneficial for the pea packer. We are truly blessed to have these people and organizations to work with.

It was a great day in Denver today. 78 degrees. Sheri and Destin went to meet some friends from play group at the park by our old place. Destin got a haircut afterwards. He is looking pretty stylish.

I'm hoping to get a couple more albums of pictures up this weekend. I'll be sure to keep you posted on my progress.
