Casa De Hirsch
So I've been holding back for the past month or so until I knew it for sure. Today at 11:00 AM Sheri and I closed on our first house! Here is a picture:
All three of us are excited. I think Destin is the most excited though. He definitely knows the house and has found his spots. We are almost afraid to move in all our furniture!
It is going to be a great place to make some more memories. Hopefully you all will be able to see it.

Snack From Saks
Today's title comes from Susan and Sheri at feeding school. Susan had Destin's snacks in a shopping bag from Saks Fifth Avenue. Sheri said, "Wow, Saks. Nothing but the best for Destin."
To which Susan replied, "That's right; snacks from Saks!"
Today's food hierarchy consisted of:
Pringles
Goldfish (Cheese & Pretzel)
Italian Bread Sticks
Red Plum Jam
Cheetos Asteroids
Mandarin Oranges
Shredded Cheese (rolled into balls)
Spaghetti O's
Watermelon
Lollipop
Juice
He really dug the Cheetos Asteroids, Balls Of Cheese, Italian Bread Sticks, and the Red Plum Jam.
Last week got away from me. We've had some pretty neat stuff happen. I will have to leave y'all hanging until later. I will be back though.

Kickball And Thomas The Tank Engine
The weekend was a whirlwind. I left Destin and Sheri on Saturday to play in a kickball tournament for Make-A-Wish. We did alright; we didn't qualify for the final bracket, but we had fun. It got us to the Piper Inn faster for some post game brews and buffalo wings.
The three of us went out to dinner to Mimi's Cafe that night. Destin does really well there. It's always nice to have a place your child enjoys. Plus the food is pretty good; which is an added bonus.
Today we went to "A Day Out With Thomas" at the Colorado Railroad Museum. We joined Kristin, Ken, and Karter. Thomas the Tank Engine is a pretty popular guy. While it is a favorite of ours, the Colorado Railroad Museum is not the largest piece of real estate in our great state. One of the conductors at the event said they were expecting 4,000 people today. There were a bunch of other "stops" around the property other then Thomas. They included a petting zoo, puppet show, and sing-a-long songs.
After our day out we went back to the Mitchell house to watch the Broncos play. We had a great corned beef dinner and some great hang out time.
There is a busy week waiting for us. Not much out of the ordinary, but we've had a break from the Toomey Clinic and speech therapy for a couple of weeks. Sheri has another dental check up on Wednesday, and Destin gets to go back to school on Tuesday and Thursday.

Cruisin' Through The Week
Our September is still rocking and rolling. Destin started his third week of school this week. Tuesday was a breeze, and he goes again tomorrow. He's already an old pro. The teacher's have said that he likes to be outside on the playground. Go figure. They have also been hypnotized by his ability to spin plates, frisbees, and anything else he can get his hands on.
Sheri had to get 3 teeth pulled today. She has been a trooper. Lindsay came over to watch the pea packer and Nancy(Grandma) came up to go with Sheri to the appointment. I had patient and Destin duty when I got home from work.
We can't believe that the true summer is fading away. We are lucky in Denver that Indian summers are pretty much the norm. So we have some great fall weather. But still, the pseudo carelessness of summer is on the way out.

Communication And School
Destin did good at pre-school yesterday. He got a sticker for sitting in the circle by himself...just for a little while. They are starting small. :) It's really neat to hear about though.
I worked from home today because Sheri had an appointment with MK. And we didn't have anyone else to watch the pea packer. Anna, Destin's speech therapist, came by. Destin has had a vacation from speech therapy for the month of August. It seemed that he wanted a little extra vacation because he fell fast asleep right before Anna came over. Sheri and I had a good conversation with her though. We talked about the non-verbal communicating he is doing. She was very pleased with his progress.
The D-man has school tomorrow. He is really enjoying this new routine. He feels comfortable with the teachers and knows that they can help him. On Tuesday, he walked over to a teacher and grabbed her hand because he wanted help with the stairs. He's learning a ton, and we couldn't be happier.

The Unofficial End To Summer
We didn't do anything too special this weekend. It was nice actually. The weather was gorgeous so we did get out for a wagon ride and some errands.
Seems very odd that it's September already. The summer has flown by. I'm ready for fall. I don't know if Sheri and Destin are but I am. :)
Destin has pre-school tomorrow, so he'll be busy; Sheri is feeling a litle under the weather so she will appreciate the small break in the middle of the day; and I'm back to work after the long weekend.
That's all I have for today. Pretty boring, I know, but we've been lazy this weekend!
