Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time...
I've decided that my Christmas song for this year is A Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney. I've always liked it, but I'm particularly fond of it this year.
Sheri is in her wrapping flow at the moment. She wants to get all of our presents wrapped before she goes to bed tonight. I'm rooting for her, but I think it will be a big undertaking. We were able to help a very special family in need this Christmas with a huge help from some of our friends. Sheri has already wrapped all their presents and delivered them.
We had some visitors last night. Steve and Terry Hirsch from western Colorado stayed for a night as they were flying out of Denver this morning for Florida. It was good to see them. Most of this week will be spent getting ready for more Hirsch's coming our way.
It's going to be a fun holiday. The Hirsch clan will be here, Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole will be up; it is going to be a packed house. Just the type of house you want for the holidays.
Destin has a "Christmas" break from school, feeding therapy, and physical therapy. He's going to see Cindy for a cranio-sacral session
on Wednesday, but that is the extent of his week. He will mostly be trying to keep his mama sane as they are running errands.

Are We Really That Grown Up?
We had our first ever parent/teacher conference this afternoon. It was a very surreal experience. We meet with Fran, one of Destin's teachers this year. She is incredibly nice and we enjoyed talking with her. It is such a "grown up" thing to do.
It is one of many to come, of course. I'm sure by the end of this school year they will be old hat. When the sentence, "I have to go to a parent/teacher conference this afternoon" came out of my mouth, I did not know who I was.
Anyway, enough of my neurotic episode. The conference was very productive. Fran asked what we were doing at home with him. She just wants to make sure that we are sharing the same techniques to foster communication, learning and, interaction. I can say that it's very comforting as a parent to hear this from a teaching staff. (Man, I sound old!)

Starting To Feel Like Christmas
I don't know if it is the recent snow, cold weather, or just that December started but it's starting to feel like Christmas time here.
Sheri and I went to my office Christmas Party on Friday night. Destin spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa Stackpole. Then, Saturday morning, it was up to City Pizza for the first birthday of Kellen and Kwinn Mitchell (twin sons of our friends Kristin (MK) and Ken). That night our friends the Kozub's had a holiday get together at their place. It was a whirlwind weekend.
We haven't gotten our real Christmas tree up although we have 4 trees up already. :) The real mccoys dry out so fast here that we are planning to get it next weekend. This should make it be in prime condition for Christmas Day.
Kristin (MK) came over this morning and helped us to take our Christmas card picture. She took some great shots and Sheri has taken the one we chose to get printed already. I've created the first draft of our Christmas letter. Man, we're moving. It HAS to be the holidays!
Destin had a good week in school last week. On Thursday he got a smiley sticker for being a good listener. He also got a nice note and picture from a friend (of the opposite sex. He's a lady killer!). He's getting this school thing down pretty well.
I'm off to LA tomorrow. Sheri and Destin have their normal therapy runs starting in the morning.
