The Unofficial Start To Summer
We had a great Memorial Day weekend and I hope that everyone out there had the same. The weather was beautiful; the grill was fired up; and we hung out with family and friends. Russ/Grandpa and I went to go see Pirates 3. We liked it; definitely worth seeing in the theater.
Of course the long weekend couldn't go by without some errands. We got some solar-powered lawn lights from Lowe's. They are working pretty good.
Today Destin has decided that he can go down stairs himself. Woo hoo! Physically he has been able to do it for awhile, but he always wanted someone's hand there for moral support. He broke through his mental barrier today and we're proud of him!

Destin's New Favorite Movie
Destin needs to have his Cars fix each day. He enjoys spending time with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and the whole gang. The opening scene is one of his favorites because of all the motion and spinning wheels.
We have noticed that he will stay engaged for 20 to 30 minutes at a time with Cars is on. This is huge for him. The previous record was about 10. We heard from our friend, Kristin, when he was over visiting his friends Karter, Kellen, and Kwinn that he really enjoyed Toy Story. He must be a Pixar fan!
He got a new trike last weekend. We went to a toy store near us called Gram Rabbits. They have a great selection of learning and hard to find toys. He had a blast running around and finding different trucks, push toys, and toys that he currently owns!
We are looking forward to a bunch of cool rides this summer.

The First Half Of May
The first half of May has been pretty packed for us. I'm plugging into my new job; Destin is wrapping up school; and Sheri is lining up some house projects for all three of us.
All of us headed to Chicago for the memorial for my grandmother (Destin's great grandmother), Lila Larsen. It was really good to see the family and remember a truly great lady.
Sheri and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on May 10th. We were happy to report that there was not any snow like on our wedding day, so we were happy.
We had an annual review of Destin's Individualized Education Program (IEP) today. An IEP is a process of setting goals and tracking progress for kids with special needs. We met with all of his teachers who gave him glowing reviews. He still has a lot to work on, but we are happy that he gets along with the people who are helping him.
Destin will be switching schools next year. It was a tough decision because he has had a great run as a Cotton Creek Cougar. He will be going to Tarver Elementary next year. I'm not sure on their mascot, but Tigers rings a bell. Tarver is actually his "home" school for pre-school for where we live now. Sheri and I visited a couple weeks ago and we liked what we saw.
Our summer plans are already filling up, so I guess a busy late spring will be good practice!
